Here were some of the more interesting comments from Todd Bowles following Sunday's practice:

• Morris Claiborne did not practice for "personal reasons".
• The rookie safeties are "ready to play" and are far along compared to rookie safeties he's seen in the past.
• He expects the defense to be better than last year.
• Sheldon Richardson is "in a good place" and has worked hard all offseason and been focused. Bowles deflected a question about whether he'll be here all year.
• Ijalana got more work today because he was feeling better.
