The 2022 JetsFix Roster Relay: Second Leg
As we do every year, we're going to mark preseason with a series of fan-sourced roster projections. The idea is that as players make their case in each preseason game this will be reflected in the next leg of the relay, along with other developments such as injuries.
We start to go around the bend today with our favorite white socks-eschewing, Shugarts-jersey owning, goth bassist Disgruntled Jets Fan who sets out the revised 53 for us below...
OFFENSE (25)
QB(3) Zach Wilson, Joe Flacco, Mike White
I hate to carry 3 here but obviously have to with Zach’s injury, plus they might have done it anyway.
RB(3) Breece Hall, Michael Carter, Zonovan Knight
That’s right, I’m cutting Coleman and going with the youth. (This probably won't happen.)
FB(1) Nick Bawden
Gotta.
WR(5) Corey Davis, Elijah Moore, Garrett Wilson, Braxton Berrios, Jeff Smith
Obviously because we traded Mims for a sweet pick.
TE(3) C.J. Uzomah, Tyler Conklin, Lawrence Cager, Jeremy Ruckert
41 personnel, let’s go. Cager is WR6 cover. Ruckert probably not ready yet but have to keep him on the roster.
EDITOR'S NOTE: DJF counted three here but named four. This means he ultimately has 54 players on his 53-man roster so is going to have to make one further cut in the comments section!
OC(2) Connor McGovern, Dan Feeney
Sex.
OG(3) Laken Tomlinson, Alijah Vera-Tucker, Nate Herbig
Feeney being the additional guard cover.
OT(5) George Fant, Duane Brown, Conor McDermott, Chuma Edoga, Max Mitchell
I assume we’re gonna be risk averse with the tackles and carry 5.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Offensive changes since the last leg: Knight, Smith and Cager in, Coleman and Mims out.
Defense (24)
DT(4) Quinnen Williams, Sheldon Rankins, Solomon Thomas, Nathan Shepherd
Still not buying into Marshall.
DE(5) Carl Lawson, John Franklin-Myers, Jermaine Johnson, Jacob Martin, Micheal Clemons
With JFM/Clemons taking some interior snaps I assume. Curry may be done. Let’s trade Huff too.
LB(4) C.J. Mosley, Kwon Alexander, Quincy Williams, Jamien Sherwood
S(5) Jordan Whitehead, Lamarcus Joyner, Will Parks, Ashtyn Davis, Jason Pinnock
Assuming Joyner can get healthy. This unit is hard to predict honestly.
CB(6) D.J. Reed, Sauce Gardner, Michael Carter II, Bryce Hall, Javelin Guidry, Brandin Echols
Feel better with this unit than last year. Same as safety though, not real confident here.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Defensive changes since the last leg: Echols in, Marshall out.
ST(4)
K Greg Zuerlein
P Braden Mann
LS Thomas Hennessy
🔫 Justin Hardee
Kicker seems to be the only open question here.
Practice Squad (16)
Del’Shawn Phillips (LB)
Rachad Wildgoose (CB)
Elijah Riley (S)
Hamsah Nasirildeen (LB)
Kenny Yeboah (TE)
DQ Thomas (LB)
Jonathan Marshall (DT)
Tarik Black (WR)
Tanzel Smart (DT)
Tony Adams (S)
Grant Hermanns (OT)
Ross Pierschbacher (OG)
La’Mical Perine (RB)
Chris Streveler (QB)
Jabari Zuniga (EDGE)
Trevor Wesco (TE/FB insurance)
¯\(ツ)/¯ The only thing I’m sure of is that the Jets will have to cut and re-sign Zuniga.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Practice squad changes since the last leg: Cager, Smith, Knight and Echols on the roster instead, Huff traded, Nacua, Jackson, Dunn, Kelly and Harris out. Players in: Phillips, Wildgoose, Riley, Marshall, Hermanns, Pierschbacher, Perine, Streveler, Zuniga and Wesco
(Editor's Note: The third leg will follow after the Falcons game)
