Roster News: Steve McLendon and Josh Martin remain under contract for 2018
This is even less surprising than yesterday's news, but:
Several #Jets players have 2018 options due today, and the team has exercised them on NT Steve McLendon and LB Josh Martin, per sources. No surprise on either. McLendon coming off solid season and Martin finished year as a starter.

The Jets won't have much depth on the defensive line if Muhammad Wilkerson leaves as anticipated. McLendon, an important contributor last year, on and off the field, was therefore always going to be retained for the final year of his contract.
Martin is arguably worth his salary for his special teams contributions alone, but did get rotational reps and had some good moments last year. His 43 tackles, 1.5 sacks and one pass defensed were all career highs. However, with the Jets expected to upgrade their edge rusher group this offseason, he can revert to a more rotational role.
