Roster News: Nwangwu to IR, Sheffield added to roster, Kuntz and Smith elevated

The Jets have announced their pre-game roster moves for tomorrow's game.

◼️ TE Tyler Conklin did not travel with team for personal reasons, but may join team in Jacksonville
◼️ Elevated WR Brandon Smith & TE Zack Kuntz
◼️ Signed CB Kendall Sheffield to active roster
◼️ Placed RB Kene Nwangwu to IR
◼️ Released DL Tak McKinley from practice squad

Nwangwu will miss the rest of the season with a broken hand and is a free agent at the end of the year but the Jets will probably be keen to bring him back after he made a big impact for them in a short space of time.

With DJ Reed and Brandin Echols not playing tomorrow, Sheffield adds depth but it will probably be Qwan'tez Stiggers, Isaiah Oliver or Jarrick Bernard-Converse who will move into the starting line-up. He would have been out of practice squad elevations so they might as well just sign Sheffield to the roster with the spot that Nwangwu's injury freed up.

Kuntz has obviously just been elevated as cover for Conklin and may not actually be needed.

Smith is probably being elevated so he can be a primary punt gunner with so many cornerbacks out.
