Roster News: Jets trade Jordan Willis to 49ers

The Jets are continuing to free up playing time for some youngsters:

Willis never really won over the Jets coaches in his brief spell with the team and was mostly inactive so far this season. Players like Bryce Huff and John Franklin-Myers had jumped ahead of him in the pecking order and rookie Jabari Zuniga has been activated to practice.

Here's the compensation details:

The Jets are getting the 49ers sixth-round pick in 2022 for Willis and a 2021 seventh-round pick, according to sources.

There was no question of the Jets receiving anything of value for Willis so a pick swap with the Jets receiving their pick in a later year was probably the best they could hope for. The deal won't save them any cap space either.
