Roster News: Jets to release punter Morstead
This had been considered imminent with Braden Mann ready to return from injury:
The #Jets are releasing veteran punter Thomas Morstead, per source.

Because it’s after the trade deadline, Morstead is subject to waivers. One to watch with some teams in need of an upgrade.
There should be a market for Morstead, who did a great job with the Jets - he was seventh in the league for punting average before this weekend. However, if nobody claims him, the Jets might consider signing him to their practice squad as cover.
If he does get picked up elsewhere, it will be interesting to compare his numbers because we suspect his success has been in large part due to the Jets' coverage units doing a great job, led by Justin Hardee - who was of course Morstead's teammate with the Saints too.
