Roster News: Jets sign Smart to active roster and elevate Hanson, McCrary-Ball

The Jets have made their roster moves ahead of Sunday's game:

We've signed DL Tanzel Smart to the active roster.

We've also elevated OL Jake Hanson and LB Marcelino McCrary-Ball for tomorrow's game.

With Billy Turner and Duane Brown unavailable the Jets had to add a lineman. Hanson plays on the inside.

Xavier Newman could not be elevated from the practice squad because he's already had the maximum number of elevations so the Jets will have someone starting that has never played any offensive snaps for them. Aside from Hanson, Carter Warren, Austin Deculus and Dennis Kelly will all be options to play right tackle if Max Mitchell moves back inside.

The Jets also had to bring in a linebacker because Chazz Surratt and Sam Eguavoen were both ruled out. This will probably be for special teams duties only.

As for Smart, he's well used to the roster shuffle by now.
