We were told this was likely to happen when Remmers signed to the practice squad a few weeks ago. He brings them an experienced option in light of the fact that Max Mitchell and George Fant are on injured reserve. Whether the Jets will stick with Alijah Vera-Tucker as an emergency right tackle in the immediate future remains to be seen.
It's possible McDermott, who started six games in four years as a Jet, will be brought back on the practice squad. The Jets do already have Adam Pankey and Eric Smith on there, but he's probably a better option than either. The Jets also have Cedric Ogbuehi on the active roster for at least another week with Fant and Mitchell due to come off injured reserve at some point later in the season.
