Cole's release probably isn't surprising because he hasn't made any impact as a receiver in camp so far. He would also have been hoping to make some noise as a gunner and perhaps a kick returner but apparently hasn't been able to.
Robinson was one of three linebackers that worked out for the team this week. The 29-year old has played 35 games in his NFL career, starting two back in 2015. He's recorded 28 tackles. After having not played in 2018 or 2019, Robinson had 15 tackles in 13 games - both career highs - on an Atlanta Falcons team that had current Jets defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich coaching the linebackers.
He's primarily been a special teamer with only 91 defensive snaps in his career and has good size, speed and explosiveness.
Robinson was with the Jets in 2017 but only played one game for them before getting injured. Here's our scouting report from back then, although unfortunately most of the gifs are dead links.
