Yeboah, who had used up all three of his standard practice squad elevations, takes the roster spot that was opened up when Jacob Martin was traded to the Broncos. The deal went through today with Martin passing his physical.
McDermott is required because the team needed an eighth lineman on the active roster for tomorrow. He still has one standard elevation left and it makes sense for him to remain on the practice squad with either George Fant or Max Mitchell hopefully returning soon.
The Jets also added safety Jared Mayden to the practice squad. The 24-year old, who was undrafted out of Alabama in 2020, has seven tackles in six NFL games and could be a potential special teams contributor.
