Roster News: Jets sign DE Taumoepenu
It was announced yesterday that the Jets had signed Bruce Hector but the XFL has confirmed that the Jets are also signing another former player from that league:
The XFL has announced that three additional players from XFL teams have signed NFL contracts. Houston Roughnecks DL Chuck Wiley signed with the Cleveland Browns and Arlington Renegades DL Bruce Hector and Vegas Vipers LB Pita Taumoepenu both signed with the New York Jets. pic.twitter.com/0fnl5fxRRS

The Jets have so much depth at defensive end that they were forced to play guys like Bryce Huff, Micheal Clemons and Will McDonald much deeper into Thursday night's game than they would have liked, so this hopefully alleviates that somewhat.
Taumoepenu was the league's defensive player of the year in 2023 after he led the league with four forced fumbles and was second with 7.5 sacks. The 29-year old has spent time with five other NFL teams, playing in 11 NFL games and recording five tackles. He's been coached by Robert Saleh and Jeff Ulbrich in the past.
The Jets had a free roster spot following the reported release of Isaiah Mack.
