Roster News: Jets sign CB Simpson as WR Charles heads to IR with torn ACL

The Jets announced a couple of moves to get Jags week underway:

WR Irvin Charles has been placed on IR.

Additionally, we have signed DB Jaylin Simpson to the 53-man roster.

After suffering a torn ACL that puts to an end a great season, Charles will aim to rehab towards a 2025 return with the Jets controlling his rights as an exclusive rights free agent. It will be interesting to see if there are any further breakdowns like the one at the end of the Miami game without him available.

Simpson is a rookie who was a fifth round pick in April and has 4.45 speed. He is yet to make his NFL debut and the Jets poached him from the Colts' practice squad.

He started off as a cornerback in college but converted to safety during his junior year and then intercepted four passes as a senior. However, he moved back to cornerback when he joined the Colts in April.
