Thomas is an undrafted rookie who was released by the Cowboys earlier this month after suffering a hamstring injury in training camp. He has some kick return experience and rushed for 30 touchdowns in his last two seasons at Temple.
Todman had failed to distinguish himself in camp or preseason action so far. He seemed like a good candidate for a return role based on his performance last year with the Colts, but hadn't been used in that role in either of the first two preseason games.
We'll have an in-depth scouting report on Thomas in due course.
