Roster News: Jets release Greg Van Roten

The Jets confirmed that they have claimed Nate Herbig, as reported yesterday, along with the corresponding cut:

It's probably not surprising to see this given how the Jets handed Van Roten's starting role to Laurent Duvernay-Tardif last year, then signed Laken Tomlinson in the offseason. The Jets could have kept Van Roten to compete for playing time with Herbig and Dan Feeney but they save a few million in cap space by releasing him, which basically pays for Herbig's salary.
