Roster News: Jets release DB Blake Countess

The Jets will be releasing a number of players over the next week or so. They made one such move official today:

Countess was acquired in the middle of last year and was expected to play a role due to his history with Gregg Williams. However, he didn't play a single snap on defense, even when the Jets had several defensive backs out injured.

Releasing him now rather than later probably does Countess a favor by giving him a chance to catch on with another team over the next week rather than getting lost in the shuffle once free agency gets going.
