The Jets have made their final set of roster moves of the regular season:
We’ve released DL Shaq Lawson and S Sharrod Neasman.

WR Tarik Black, DL Ronnie Blair and OL Ross Pierschbacher have been elevated.

The Lawson trade provided the Jets with a veteran replacement for his namesake Carl Lawson, but he had a limited impact other than that big interception in the Bengals game. He's since been surpassed on the depth chart by the likes of Kyle Phillips and Ronnie Blair, who were also injured at the time, so it was still a worthwhile move. There was no way he was ever going to be back in 2022 with a $9 million cap number.
Cutting him now makes no difference financially but prevents a situation where he gets injured and the Jets are on the hook for his rehab and potentially 2022 earnings.
Neasman presumably wasn't going to be active either having been on the Covid-19 reserve for some time, so he also makes way. His route back to the roster was blocked when Will Parks and Jason Pinnock filled in well while he was out.
Pierschbacher and Black will be active for the first time this season. They'll still revert to the practice squad and the Jets will have to sign them to a futures deal to retain them. Interestingly, Black was elevated ahead of DJ Montgomery and Vyncint Smith so the team is perhaps keen to get a look at him. Pierschbacher is probably the backup center with Conor McGovern out.
Finally, of course, we have our weekly Ronnie Blair activation. He might even start on Sunday with Bryce Huff now on IR.
