Roster News: Jets confirm Wilcox signing, release Bishop
This move, which seemed inevitable once news of Rontez Miles' injury leaked out, is official now:
We have signed safety J.J. Wilcox and waived LB Freddie Bishop.

Wilcox was a starter with the Cowboys but has been a back-up for most of the last two years. He'll provide cover for Marcus Maye and contribute on special teams while also being a good option for some of the dime packages Miles saw action in last year.
Bishop would have been on the bubble in camp, even though edge defender is a weakness for the Jets. In two years with the team he played nine games, starting three. He had 19 tackles, a pass defensed and a fumble recovery but no sacks.
We'll break down Wilcox in detail within the next week or so.
