Roster News: Jets add OL Newman to practice squad, release Pankey

The Jets have made another practice squad change:

The 24-year old Newman has played in four NFL games since being undrafted last year. He actually started one game, albeit that he's only played 16 offensive snaps in all. He has played all three interior positions in preseason action.

Pankey was a utility man with experience but the Jets' need for such a backup option reduced when Wes Schweitzer returned this week, so they're perhaps giving a younger player a shot. Pankey could easily return at some point.
