Malone, who is 6'3", had spent the entire season on the Jets' practice squad after being released in final cuts by the Bengals. The 23-year old former fourth-round pick has seven career catches.
Apparently, Malone has been tearing it up in practice. This move may have more to do with ensuring he is on the roster for next year than getting him any playing time in the last few games, though. Nevertheless, he could provide cover for Robby Anderson, who was sent home from yesterday's practice due to illness.
In other news, the Jets also lost one player off their practice squad:
The #Raiders signed LB Ukeme Eligwe off the #Jets' practice squad today.
