Roster News: Carpenter to IR, Braden activated
Earlier today, we remarked on Spencer Long's comments that he expects to remain at guard for a while and those make more sense now that James Carpenter is headed to injured reserve according to multiple reports.
Carpenter, who has a shoulder injury, is out of contract at the end of the year, so his Jets career could be over.
We will update when the Jets announce the corresponding move. Ben Braden, who is on the practice squad, is probably the most obvious candidate to be activated. However, the Jets have two other offensive linemen on the practice squad; Jon Toth and Dieugot Joseph.
UPDATE: The Jets did activate Braden as anticipated. They also signed running back Mark Thompson to the practice squad to fill Braden's spot.
The rookie Thompson is a big back who racked up over 200 yards from scrimmage in preseason, including 91 rushing yards in the final preseason game.
