Roster News: Fotu activated as Mills heads to IR
The Jets have opened up Rams week with some moves:
Roster Moves:
— New York Jets (@nyjets) December 18, 2024
◼️ DL Leki Fotu has returned to practice
◼️ Signed RB Zach Evans, DL Bradlee Anae, and TE Neal Johnson to the practice squad
◼️ S Jalen Mills has been placed on IR
Mills suffered a broken collarbone early on in Sunday's game, so he's done for the season. Undrafted rookie Jarius Monroe, who is still on the practice squad, has one elevation remaining this year.
We reported the Evans addition earlier but the other two are players who were already with the Jets at some point over the past year. They may be planning to sign all three to a futures deal after the season. Tight end Brendan Bates was poached yesterday.
Fotu can return to practice for the rest of the season but whether the Jets will actually activate and use him remains to be seen. Rookie Leonard Taylor has played well enough to remain in the rotation and moving Solomon Thomas back outside would only take reps away from another rookie; Eric Watts. Of course, Quinnen Williams is hurt so maybe they will need Fotu in the rotation on Sunday.
