Roster News: Brown heads to injured reserve

The Jets have confirmed their roster moves ahead of the season opener:

We’ve placed T Duane Brown on IR and elevated T Grant Hermanns from the practice squad for tomorrow’s game.

Brown reportedly could have had surgery which presumably would have ended his season but has opted to try to rehab and return in week five instead with the team hopeful he has a chance to be back then. Hermanns provides extra depth at tackle with both Conor McDermott and George Fant having been listed as questionable but with Fant expected to start. If he plays, it will be Hermanns' NFL debut.

With one practice squad elevation but also one spot open on the active roster, the Jets will only need five players to be inactive on Sunday, one of whom can be an offensive lineman.
