Roster News: Mauldin and Luvu among those released as today's cuts being to leak out
Today's cuts are underway with a minor surprise as undrafted rookie Frankie Luvu, who had been on the second unit in preseason, is one of the first names to leak out (via Manish Mehta of the NY Daily News). Mehta also reports that another undrafted rookie, Anthony Wint, has also been released. Both are probably practice squad candidates. Brandon Bryant could be too, as Brian Costello from the NY Post has confirmed his release.
Also, Taylor Bertolet's agent has confirmed that the kicker has been released. Jason Myers will probably make the initial 53 but don't be surprised to see the Jets bring someone else in to compete with or replace him.
UPDATE: Lorenzo Mauldin has also been released, according to his own instagram page.
UPDATE 2:
Deon Simon has also been released, per Mehta.
Also:
Thomas Rawls and Jeremy Clark both waived by #Jets, per a person with knowledge of the situation.
