Report: Jets make a scouting hire
According to Neil Stratton of Inside the League.com, the Jets have hired former Rams scout Evan Ardoin as an area scout.
Ardoin was let go, along with several other members of the Rams scouting department, a few weeks before the draft. While that seems a little unconventional, all of the draft preparation would have been done by that point and the early releases were reportedly to enable them to find new jobs more easily.
Ardoin had been with the Rams for eight years and was promoted to area scout in 2013 having previously handled national football scouting duties. There is some speculation that the front office was divided on whether to draft Jared Goff or Carson Wentz in 2016 and that this may have been a factor in the job losses.
Rex Hogan, the former director of college scouting for the Jets, reportedly departed to work for the Colts last week. It will be interesting to see whether the Jets opt to reshuffle or promote from within, but if there are any further hires, we will let you know.
