Practice Recap - 6/11/24
Media was on hand for the Jets' on-field minicamp practice today. Here's what went down according to those on hand:
- Both Haason Reddick and Aaron Rodgers were not in attendance and Breece Hall did not participate after a minor injury last week, although he would be practicing if it was a game week;
- Robert Saleh said that Alijah Vera-Tucker and Morgan Moses should be ready for training camp, but Mike Williams is aiming to be ready before the start of the season;
- Pat Elflein, Ilm Manning, Corey Luciano, Jeremy Lewis, Takk McKinley and Jakeem Grant were attending on a tryout basis;
- Izzy Abanikanda left the field with an apparent shoulder injury;
- Isaiah Davis had a good block on a receiver screen to Allen Lazard and caught a pass on a checkdown from Tyrod Taylor, who also completed a checkdown to Xazavian Valladay in the first team session;
- McKinley's good discipline in pocket contain forced a throw away;
- Brandon Codrington broke up an underthrown jump ball from Andrew Peasley to Malachi Corley;
- The defense was mostly dominant although there were some successful runs, including one where Deuce Carter was caught inside;
- In 7-on-7's, Jarrick Bernard-Converse broke up a Peasley pass intended for Jeremy Ruckert;
- Taylor continued to mostly check down but did hit a quick pass to Tyler Conklin before throwing incomplete downfield on a miscommunication with Xavier Gipson;
- Taylor struggled in red zone as he overshot an open Gipson then had a poorly placed pass broken up by Sauce Gardner. He completed one pass to Garrett Wilson but not for a touchdowns;
- He also had two handoffs fumbled by running backs; and
- Jamien Sherwood, Braelon Allen and Joe Tippman were among those who looked good in drills.
