Postgame: Jets drop frustrating game in Tampa
The Jets limped into the bye with the kind of performance long-suffering Jets fans saw coming all week, losing 15-10 and dropping to 4-6 on the season.
The Bucs entered the game with a league-worst eight sacks, but they were all over Josh McCown all day, sacking him six times. The defense was a little better but struggled to get off the field on third down and had a couple of costly penalties.
The Jets were mostly solid against the run but then gave up a crucial 21-yard run on 3rd-and-15 with the dime package on the field. That set up Ryan Fitzpatrick - who wasn't very good for the Bucs, completing just 50% of his passes - for a crucial fourth quarter touchdown pass to effectively put the game out of reach.
The Jets finally got a touchdown with 28 seconds to go on a long throw to Robby Anderson but it was too little, too late. McCown, Anderson and Austin Seferian-Jenkins actually ended up with decent numbers but that was misleading because most of the damage was done in garbage time.
