Open Discussion Thread: Cotton Bowl Classic
There's plenty of NFL draft prospects on display in tonight's game between USC and Ohio State, so feel free to use this thread to discuss the game with your fellow JetsFixers.
USC's best prospects are offensive players, headlined by quarterback Sam Darnold. Running back Ronald Jones III and wide receiver Deontay Burnett also have potential day two talent.
If Darnold opts to enter the draft, he will be a high pick and may even be a candidate to be the first player selected. Jones has raised his stock significantly over the course of a season that has seen him racked up 1,651 yards from scrimmage and 19 total touchdowns.
Defensively, their best prospects for 2018 are defensive lineman Rasheem Green and linebackers Uchenna Nwosu and Cameron Smith.
It's difficult not to view Green as a poor man's Leonard Williams since he plays the same role and wears the same number 94 as Williams did when he was a Trojan. Nwosu is probably their best defensive prospect though, as some think he could sneak into the second round. He's having a break-out year with 7.5 sacks and his goal line stop against Stanford helped USC win the Pac-12 title game.
The highest ranked 2018 defensive prospect on display is probably OSU cornerback Denzel Ward. While their best defensive player is Nick Bosa, he's not eligible to come out yet, so watch out for Dre'Mont Jones and Sam Hubbard on the defensive line.
On the offensive line, center Billy Price might not be as good as former OSU center Nick Mangold, but he's a good run blocker, while left tackle Jamarco Jones is their best pass protector.
