Nuggets from Wednesday's mini-camp practice

Before practice, several players and coaches spoke to media:

  • Wide receiver coach Karl Dorrell talked up Chad Hansen's "intriguing" skill-set and said he could be a pleasant surprise.
  • Quincy Enunwa said it's up to the receivers to prove those doubting the group wrong.
  • Quarterback coach Jeremy Bates was talking up Christian Hackenberg and said that "everyone in the building is excited about where he's going".
  • Matt Forté said he is excited about the versatility in the offense and scoffed at the notion that the team is tanking.

Some notes from practice itself:

  • Cornerback Morris Claiborne did not practice. Neither did Hansen, who injured his leg yesterday. Enunwa, ArDarius Stewart and Ben Ijalana also did not practice for the second straight day.
  • After the offense had a strong outing yesterday, defense was well on top on Wednesday.
  • Rookie Jamal Adams stood out in red zone action with a couple of picks and a diving pass break-up and then later added a sack in team periods.
  • Other than a Hackenberg pass to Elijah McGuire, the offense failed to get anything done in red zone action.
  • Bryce Petty led a successful touchdown drive, finding FB Julian Howsare for his second touchdown catch in as many days.

We'll update you if anything interesting is revealed after practice.
