Nuggets from today's mini-camp practice
Before practice, several players and coaches spoke to media:
- Josh McCown talked up how impressive Quincy Enunwa and Austin Seferian-Jenkins have been.
- New RB coach Stump Mitchell said that Bilal Powell could be a pro bowler if he was a featured back and also provided assurances that the Jets will have a productive fullback on the team this year.
- OLB coach Kevin Green talked up Dylan Donahue, who he says has "a hunter's heart".
- Leonard Williams said he has been taking leadership classes and implied he was already prepared to lead this team, even before David Harris left.
Some notes from practice itself:
- Quincy Enunwa and ArDarius Stewart did not practice and Chad Hansen limped off with a leg injury at one stage. Ben Ijalana, who reportedly had a minor knee scope last week, also sat out.
- Demario Davis and Josh Martin were among those seeing first team reps on defense.
- Jets quarterbacks completed 13 passes in a row in team periods as Christian Hackenberg reportedly had easily his best practice in front of the media so far.
- Muhammad Wilkerson made one of the plays of the day when he intercepted a McCown pass and had a long runback.
- Morris Claiborne had a good practice with a couple of break-ups and an interception.
We'll update you if anything interesting is revealed after practice.
