Jets Training Camp Recap - 8/3/22
The Jets held another camp practice of 2022 today with media on hand, so here's what went down based on reports from those in attendance:
- The Jets were in pads again;
- Vinny Curry, who has a hamstring injury, did not practice;
- Ace Carter, who has an ankle injury, did return, although Ty Johnson was not at practice;
- Kwon Alexander, who is already getting some reps alongside CJ Mosley, had a tackle for loss in the first team session;
- Quinnen Williams followed that up with a sack;
- Conor McDermott worked with the first team again as the Jets continue to bring George Fant along slowly;
- Zach Wilson did well on his second series, hitting Tyler Conklin for a big gain down the seam and then shorter gains to Braxton Berrios, CJ Uzomah and Jeff Smith;
- Mike White stepped up and hit Irvin Charles over the middle;
- Jermaine Johnson had a sack;
- Jacob Martin intercepted a Joe Flacco pass that was juggled by Uzomah, then fumbled himself on the return;
- Robert Saleh gathered the team together for a speech after a special teams drill but nobody seemed to know why;
- Tanzel Smart recovered a fumbled snap by White;
- In red zone work, Wilson zipped a pass to Elijah Moore on a corner route down to the goal line with Sauce Gardner in coverage;
- Wilson then rolled out and hit Conklin for a touchdown and found Moore at the back of the end zone for the two-point conversion. He ended the practice 8-for-8 on the day;
- Micheal Clemons had a good run stop on third down in red zone drills;
- The red zone sessions ended when White found Bam Knight on fourth down, but Kai Nacua (who recently moved to linebacker) blew the play up;
- Practice ended with a walkthrough, which is interesting because tomorrow's scheduled practice was also a walkthrough. This must mean they're getting an extra day off; and
- Eddy Pineiro made his first three field goals but missed from 55 yards. Greg Zuerlein had the day off.
