Jets Training Camp Practice Recap - 7/31/24
Media were on hand for the Jets' training camp practice today. Here's what went down according to those on hand:
- Tyron Smith had another veteran rest day but Brandin Echols returned to practice after missing a few days with a rib injury;
- Olu Fashanu started at left tackle with Carter Warren on the right on the first unit;
- It was a short practice, working exclusively on red zone stuff;
- Solomon Thomas was in the backfield to blow up a run;
- Chuck Clark and Quinnen Williams also made good plays against the run;
- Deuce Carter limped off the field with a trainer early on and Allen Lazard was watching from the sideline during team drills;
- Aaron Rodgers completed the drill with a touchdown to Garrett Wilson, who shook loose from Qwan'tez Stiggers;
- Malachi Corley got plenty of early reps, including a screen pass from Tyrod Taylor;
- Jayln Holmes deflected a Taylor pass;
- Tarik Cohen had a big red zone run;
- Corley beat a man in the open field to score on a screen pass from Andrew Peasley and then Zack Kuntz made a one-handed catch on a roll-out;
- Clark broke up a Rodgers pass intended for Jeremy Ruckert;
- Rodgers hit Breece Hall on a wheel route for a 10-yard score;
- Williams intercepted Rodgers after Javon Kinlaw deflected a pass;
- After the interception, Rodgers bounced back with a touchdown to Wilson in the flat;
- Taylor scored on an option keeper but Xavier Newman was hurt on the play;
- Corley scored again, this time on an end-around;
- In the next session, Hall was wide open on another wheel route for a 20-yard score from Rodgers;
- Rodgers then found Corley for another 20-yard touchdown on a fade; and
- He then found Wilson for his sixth touchdown of the day, and Wilson's third, as the defense did push-ups to end practice.
