Jets Training Camp Practice Recap - 7/30/24

Media were on hand for the Jets' training camp practice today. Here's what went down according to those on hand:

  • The team was in pads once again;
  • Once again Morgan Moses sat out the team drills;
  • 7-on-7's to begin featured a drop by Allen Lazard and a Tyrod Taylor completion to Malachi Corley;
  • Andrew Peasley then found Jason Brownlee downfield as he went up over Jarrick Bernard-Converse for the catch;
  • Lazard atoned for his drop by coming down with an acrobatic catch from Aaron Rodgers working against DJ Reed;
  • Taylor then hit Malik Taylor on a deep ball;
  • In 11-on-11's Sauce Gardner stuffed a Breece Hall run but then Rodgers connected with Corley who made a spectacular one-handed sideline catch;
  • Hall then had a big run with good blocking creating a hole;
  • Solomon Thomas, Chazz Surratt and Jayln Holmes were all in on run stuffs against the backups;
  • Jaylen Key broke up an Adrian Martinez pass down the field with physical coverage;
  • Lazard had another catch on the next series, but Joe Tippmann had two more bad snaps and Thomas, Jermaine Johnson and Will McDonald were in on potential sacks;
  • Working against back-ups, Qwan'tez Stiggers, Sam Eguavoen and Zaire Barnes had pass break-ups and Eric Watts had a sack;
  • Braelon Allen, Isaiah Davis and Corley all got work as return men on special teams drills;
  • The next series included another bad snap, another Thomas sack and a dropped pitch from Rodgers to Hall;
  • The Taylor-to-Taylor connection worked again on a 40+ yard bomb;
  • Rodgers hit Hall for a big gain on a wheel route;
  • Quinnen Williams blew up a play with a sack;
  • Xazavian Valladay had a couple of nice runs;
  • Surratt blew up a screen;
  • Rodgers and Garrett Wilson weren't on the same page and got together to discuss what happened after a fourth down miscommunication;
  • Taylor hit Brownlee for another big gain;
  • Holmes and Tyler Harrell were both injured and did not return;
  • In a two-minute drill Rodgers and Wilson finally connected down the field after a Reed pass breakup;
  • Lazard made a great catch for a first down on a ball thrown behind him, although he was shaken up (but did return to action);
  • Rodgers was just 2-for-7 on the drive which ended with another turnover on downs;
  • On the second unit's drive, Corley had a drop; and
  • Bernard-Converse intercepted Taylor to end practice.
