Jets select Florida safety Marcus Maye with the 39th pick
The Jets threw everyone a curveball by taking yet another safety, Marcus Maye with their first pick of day two. After some reports circulated that they were trying to trade up for Cal quarterback Davis Webb, they selected Maye with Webb still on the board.
Maye doesn't play deep very much, but has been productive in underneath coverage and is good against the run. He's another player with good length, 4.5 speed and dependability.
It looks like the Jets have their safety tandem for the future - and perhaps the old pairing of Marcus Gilchrist and Calvin Pryor could both be on their way out.
Analysis to follow tomorrow, but for now, let's hear your take on this pick. Stay in the official thread to discuss the ongoing events in the draft.
