Jets Practice Recap - 6/16/21
The Jets were on the field for the another practice on Wednesday with the media on hand. This was the second and final practice of their mandatory minicamp.
Before practice,
Here's what went down during practice, based on media reports and tweets from those in attendance:
- Players getting first team reps, mainly due to injuries, included Isaiah Dunn, Keelan Cole, Tyler Kroft and Conor McDermott;
- Players doing conditioning work rather than practicing included Bless Austin, Marcus Maye, Dan Brown and Chuma Edoga;
- Tight end Chris Herndon was not at practice;
- In the first 11-on-11 session, Zach Wilson hit Tyler Kroft on a downfield touch pass, but Carl Lawson beat Conor McDermott for a sack and Dunn broke up a deep ball;
- In 7-on-7's, Wilson hit Keelan Cole, Ace Carter and Elijah Moore, but Bryce Hall broke up another deep ball;
- The second team period featured another great catch by Moore and another connection to Cole. La'Mical Perine also had a good run;
- Wilson then had a few incompletions including another two that were broken up by Dunn;
- Denzel Mims made an acrobatic catch on a Mike White deep out, although he was ruled out of bounds;
- In the second set of 7-on-7's Dunn again had good coverage on an incompletion by Wilson and Jason Pinnock broke up a James Morgan pass but Lamar Jackson was beaten by Cole and caught a Wilson pass;
- In the third set of 11-on-11's Wilson hit Cole again, then checked down to Ty Johnson and also completed passes to Ryan Griffin and Braxton Berrios;
- Wilson then had a couple of completions into tight coverage with Moore beating Hall and Cole beating Dunn but then threw incomplete with Dunn covering against Ryan Griffin;
- The drive stalled at the two-yard line when Wilson's pass was batted into the air and he caught it himself, leading to a dead ball; and
- Mims had a drop on a deep throw by White after having beaten Pinnock. Jackson then broke up a White pass.
Tomorrow is the final day of minicamp, but the Jets are just going to hold meetings so we now have six weeks to wait until training camp.
