Jets confirm "final" cuts

Here's the details of the moves made today by the Jets to get down to 53 active players by the deadline.

Obviously anyone currently on the 53 doesn't necessarily have a roster spot guaranteed. In fact, it's virtually inevitable that a few will get bumped off, as the Jets will be making some waiver claims and have a high waiver priority.

So, while it might look like good news for guys like Julian Howsare, Jason Vander Laan, Terrence Brooks and Chandler Catanzaro, each of them will still be holding their breath to some extent.

Anyone who will be placed on injured reserve with a designation for return has to be on the final 53 by rule. So, we could see that happen to Lorenzo Mauldin tomorrow.

The Jets have to wait until the players they cut have cleared waivers before they can be placed on the practice squad.
