Jets Camp Practice Recap - 8/22/23
Media was on hand for the Jets' training camp practice today. Here's what went down according to those on hand:
- Alijah Vera-Tucker, Laken Tomlinson, Jeremy Ruckert and Chazz Surratt returned to practice;
- Carl Lawson is still being held out as a precaution and Joe Tippmann, Izzy Abanikanda and Kenny Yeboah are all out for a few weeks according to coach Robert Saleh;
- Corey Davis continues to not be at practice due to a personal matter;
- The team was not in pads and it was a light practice focused on game preparation;
- They opened with Billy Turner, Tomlinson, Connor McGovern, Wes Schweitzer and Mekhi Becton (left to right) as the starting offensive line. Vera-Tucker did get some reps later on;
- Aaron Rodgers opened up 3-for-3 with completions to Garrett Wilson, Ace Carter and Tyler Conklin;
- He ended up 4-for-6 on the drive which ended with a Greg Zuerlein field goal;
- Becton was matched up with Will McDonald and seemed to get the better of a spirited matchup;
- TJ Luther made an outstanding catch against Jamien Sherwood;
- Breece Hall had a couple of nice runs over the right side with Vera-Tucker pulling on the second one;
- Hall and the offensive line continued to be effective against the first team defense, setting up a play action throw from Rodgers to Wilson against Sauce Gardner;
- Quincy Williams had a nice pass break-up on Conklin;
- Schweitzer limped off at one point and did not return; and
- Zach Wilson had a nice downfield completion to Zack Kuntz.
