Jets Camp Practice Recap: 7/20/23
Media was on hand for the Jets' on-field OTA session today. Here's what went down according to those on hand:
- Breece Hall, CJ Uzomah, Randall Cobb and Jarrick Bernard-Converse officially began camp on the PUP list. Bernard-Converse has his foot in a boot but Hall looked good in the rehab area;
- Aaron Rodgers got things going early with a couple of short passes to Ace Carter and Nick Bawden;
- Mekhi Becton started off working at left tackle with the second unit. Billy Turner took the first team left tackle reps with Duane Brown on a personal day. Bryce Huff beat Becton for a sack in team drills;
- Connor McGovern began camp on the first unit at center;
- Jamien Sherwood was getting some first team reps at linebacker;
- Jermaine Johnson came off the edge for a would-be sack of Zach Wilson;
- Chris Streveler completed 3-of-3 on one series with the third unit but Tim Boyle struggled;
- Rodgers started to open things up a bit more with a well-placed connection to Tyler Conklin who made a reaching grab. However, DJ Reed broke up a pass in the end zone and Deuce Carter had good coverage on another incompletion as Rodgers ended up 6-for-10;
- Javelin Guidry and Derrick Langford also broke up passes by Boyle, intended for Malik Taylor and Jerome Kapp;
- Wilson threw the first touchdown of camp as he stepped up and hit Mecole Hardman on a side-arm delivery and Hardman ran it in; and
- Practice ended up being relatively short and was unsurprisingly described as sloppy.
