Jets 2024 Green-White Scrimmage Recap

Media (and fans) were on hand for the Jets' training camp practice today which took the form of a simulated game without officals (although they had originally planned to have officials). Here's what went down according to those on hand:

Sauce Gardner did not play after missing practice yesterday for personal reasons and Deuce Carter also didn't play after hurting his ankle a few days ago;
Tyron Smith did not practice as he took a veteran rest day and Morgan Moses was also out;
Malik Taylor also did not practice;
Max Mitchell started at right tackle with Olu Fashanu at left tackle;
Javon Kinlaw, Jarrick Bernard-Converse and Micheal Clemons started on defense as the Jets opened in a three-safety set; and
The second team offensive line comprised Wes Schweitzer, Chris Glaser, Carter Warren, Austin Deculus and Xavier Newman.

First Drive - 1st team offense vs 1st team defense
Aaron Rodgers quick out to Garrett Wilson for short gain
Breece Hall first down run behind John Simpson's second level block
Hall stuffed by Clemons on first down, then catches short pass on 2nd down
Rodgers to Wilson for the first down on 3rd down
Short pass from Rodgers to Ruckert
Braelon Allen nice run as Joe Tippmann and Alijah Vera-Tucker seal their men off and Fashanu pulls out in front
Rodgers to Hall for decent yardage in the flat
CJ Mosley breaks up pass intended for Tyler Conklin
Tippmann snaps it over Rodgers' head for a 20-yard loss
Malachi Corley catch in flat to get it back in field goal range
Greg Zuerlein nails the 38-yard field goal

Second Drive - 2nd team offense vs 2nd team defense
Allen opened with a solid seven yard run
Two Tyrod Taylor incompletions led to a three and out

Third Drive - 1st team offense vs 1st team defense
Rodgers dumps underneath to Hall
Deep back shoulder throw from Rodgers caught by Wilson for 22 over Bernard-Converse
Two completions to Allen Lazard including a first down conversion on the outside on 2nd down
Isaiah Davis ran the wrong route and then lost a fumble on the next play, forced by Mosley as Tanzel Smart wrapped him up

Fourth Drive - 2nd team offense vs 2nd team defense
Taylor pass to Jason Brownlee downfield broken up by Qwan'tez Stiggers
Braiden McGregor and Eric Watts combined for a coverage sack on third down

Two minute drill - 2nd team offense vs 2nd team defense
Tre Swilling was pulled after punching Irv Charles at the end of a play
Taylor completed a nice downfield throw to Kenny Yeboah, then hit Brownlee twice including one downfield for a 23-yard touchdown as he made a leaping catch near the pylon to end the "first half"

Second Half:

First Drive - 1st team offense vs 1st team defense
Davis had a good return on the kickoff
Johnson and Clemons stuffed a Hall run
Rodgers to Lazard over the middle for a first down
Vera-Tucker false started and was subbed out
Incompletion to Corley on a miscommunication
Nice gainer on a checkdown to Allen
Sherwood blew up a play-action rollout
Johnson stuffed a run and then had good pressure as he beat Fashanu but Rodgers found Wilson in zone coverage
Sherwood broke up a downfield pass intended for Conklin
Hamze El-Zayat caught a short pass from Rodgers
Holmes also beat Fashanu as Sherwood broke up a third down pass intended for Lazard
Zuerlein nailed a short field goal

Second Drive - 2nd team offense vs 2nd team defense
Davis got things going with a nice run
Charles added another first down on an end around
Holmes deflected a pass
Zaire Barnes blew up a run with a big hit on Izzy Abanikanda
Davis broke another nice run but the drive stalled
Zuerlein made another field goal

Two minute drill - 1st team offense vs 1st team defense
Rodgers with a big completion to a wide open El-Zayat
Brandin Echols breaks up a pass intended for Lazard
Rodgers goes back to Lazard for the leaping catch with three seconds to go as it gets chippy between Echols, Lazard and Clemons
Rodgers takes a knee and Austin Seibert kicks another field goal to end the practice
