Injury News: Justin Hardee out 4-6 weeks, headed to IR
Another injury blow for the Jets:
Jets’ Pro-Bowl special teamer Justin Hardee suffered a hamstring injury that required surgery Friday and now is expected to sideline him 4-to-6 weeks, per sources. Hardee hurt it Sunday, aggravated it at practice, then underwent surgery and is expected to be placed on IR today. pic.twitter.com/6KBbFXwL1i

With Hardee out, the Jets will likely employ Irvin Charles and Brandin Echols as the primary punt gunners, although Echols is out on Sunday so they will probably elevate Craig James to undertake this role. Hardee isn't just a punt gunner though, he also makes valuable contributions as a blocker, rushing kicks and on kickoff coverage.
The Jets will have an open roster spot which they may use to activate an offensive lineman now.
