Former Jets LB David Harris announces his retirement
More unsurprising news:
Statement from NFL great David Harris:
— Sportstars (@SPORTSTARSNYC) February 23, 2018
"After 11 years of having played the greatest team sport at its highest level, it's now time for me to announce my retirement from the NFL."
It has been a true honor representing David! Go enjoy retirement! #Sportstars #HitMan #ClassAct
Harris had a good decade with the Jets but spent most of 2017 as a benchwarmer after having signed with the New England Patriots. He was not active during New England's postseason run, despite being completely healthy. He had one year left on his contract with them, but was a probably cap casualty.
He will probably go into the ring of honor, although it's debatable whether he had a better career than Kyle Clifton, Lance Mehl and Mo Lewis, none of whom are in the ring of honor yet.
Here's a memorable moment from the Hitman's career:
We JetFixers salute you on a fine career, David!
