Final: Jets 12 Giants 7
A satisfactory preseason opener for the Jets saw them outplay a Giants team which admittedly rested way more starters than the Jets did.
The Jets dominated time of possession, outgained the Giants by 316 yards to 163 and sacked Giants quarterbacks five times for a win that was more comfortable than the final score would suggest.
Zach Wilson's debut went pretty well as he led a couple of decent drives, one of which ended up in a Chris Naggar field goal. While he didn't make any "wow" plays, Wilson completed six of his nine passes for 63 yards, including a couple of nice first down throws.
La'Mical Perine scored the Jets' only touchdown on a four-yard run in the second half and the Jets looked set to shut out the Giants until Kenny Yeboah's fumble and a blown coverage by Corey Ballentine enabled the Giants to pull within 10-7 midway through the fourth quarter.
However, the Jets ran most of the clock out with their running game and Jonathan Marshall's sack for a safety iced the win.
It was a good day for the likes of Bryce Huff and Hamilcar Rashed, who combined for 3.5 sacks, and Denzel Mims had some nice plays in the second half. Hamsah Nasirildeen also had a key forced fumble as the Giants got down inside the 10 on their only good drive of the first half.
