DraftFix: Pro Days - South Alabama, ULL, Arkansas State
Over the last few weeks, we've been updating you on how draft prospects are faring at most of the main pro day workouts.
Arkansas State (Thursday)
The Red Wolves best prospect is pass rusher Ja'Von Rolland-Jones but he was battling a tight hamstring and posted poor numbers. His 40-time was 5.12 - 0.26 slower than he managed at the combine. Diminutive defensive back Blaise Taylor was said to have been impressive, running a 4.52 in the 40-yard dash and a 7.01 in the three cone.
USC (Thursday)
USC already hosted its pro day, but multiple scouts came to see them run another one, especially for running back Ronald Jones and wide receiver Deontay Burnett who have been injured.
Jones still isn't 100 percent but managed to post a 4.48 in the 40, a 4.1 short shuttle and a 7.0 in the three-cone.
Burnett only managed to post a 40 in the 4.6 range but his short shuttle (4.12) and three cone (6.71) were good.
Louisiana-Lafayette (Thursday)
Safety Tracy Walker is probably ULL's best prospect and he's been mentored through the process by former teammate and Jets running back Elijah McGuire. Walker opted to do just the jumps in his workout.
Jeryl Brazil stole the show with a 4.35 40-yard dash that some scouts had timed as under 4.3 seconds.
Brazil, who has a background as a sprinter, was thrown off the team at LSU after one game, then tore his ACL in his first game at a lower division school. He played nine games with the Rajun' Cajuns in 2015, seeing time at defensive back and even returning a kick-off for a touchdown. However, he was kicked off the team there too.
South Alabama
The Jaguars' best prospect is safety Jeremy Reaves, who was of interest because he was a combine snub. Reaves posted below average results in the 40 (4.66), vertical (31") and broad jump 110" but apparently did better in agility drills.
Those were the last of this year's collegiate pro days but we'll be following up with some overriding pro day analysis over the next few days.
