Countdown to the draft: 8 days to go
The 2022 draft is almost here and we're counting down the days...
With the 8th pick
The Jets have picked eighth twice in team history with one of those being James Farrior, whom the team ultimately got rid of too earlier and then saw develop into a pro bowler with the Steelers.
The other was a mistake, as the Jets reached for Dave Cadigan, a guard who started 51 games in six years with the Jets but never proved worthy of being a top 10 pick.
Eight years ago
The 2014 draft is remembered as being the year when the Jets selected "The Idzik 12". Inexplicably choosing not to package picks to move up, the Jets picked 12 players, nearly all of whom were out of the league within a few years, including first round safety Calvin Pryor and tight end Jace Amaro. The only picks with any staying power were Dakota Dozier and Quincy Enunwa.
In the 8th round
The best eighth round pick in team history is an obvious one. Offensive lineman Dan Alexander was selected in 1977 and played all 13 seasons with the Jets, starting 183 games. He's sixth in franchise history in games played.
Number 8s in the draft
The Jets will be hopeful that Elijah Moore will easily be the best number 8 they've ever drafted. In fact, he probably already is. His closest competition is Browning Nagle, a 1991 second round pick who famously threw for over 300 yards in his NFL debut and then never surpassed 200 in the rest of his career.
