The Greatest
The Dennis Byrd story is equal parts tragic and inspiring. After winning his battle to walk again following a career-ending neck injury in 1992, Byrd sadly died in a car accident two years ago. On the field he was a great player, whose best season saw him rack up 13 sacks in 1990.
Byrd didn't have a lot of competition for the best #90 in team history, though...

The '90 season
Byrd was probably the Jets' MVP in 1990, although Al Toon led the team in receiving and Erik McMillan intercepted five passes. They did not have any pro bowlers.
After a great 17-12 win on the road in Houston with defensive lineman Darrell Davis scoring the winning touchdown on a fumble recovery in the end zone, the Jets beat the Cowboys 24-9 thanks to an NFL-record 98-yard punt return by Terrence Mathis to move to 4-5 on the season. However, they then lost their next five and ended up 6-10.
90 of the best
Johnny Johnson once set a Jets record with a 90-yard run that pretty much summed up the Rich Kotite era. After he got run down inside the five, the Jets ended up going four-and-out and didn't even get any points out of it.
