As we look ahead to training camp in late July, we're going to take a daily retrospective look back at some random people, moments and games from Jets history...
The Current 70
Dakota Dozier was a mid-round pick from the John Idzik era and has never really established himself as anything more than a reserve and spot-starter. Nevertheless, when Brian Winters got injured in 2016 and Dozier filled in ably, many felt the Jets should be letting Dozier compete for a role rather than giving Winters a long-term deal. Dozier was out of contract this year, but the Jets re-signed him so he is still in their plans to some extent.
The Greatest
One of the best undrafted players in recent history was Mike DeVito, a terrific run defender who was a big part of the team's two AFC title game appearances several years ago. Here was one of his best plays, setting up a Muhammad Wilkerson touchdown in 2012:

The '70 season
1970 was the beginning of a postseason drought for the Jets as Joe Namath was limited to just five starts due to injury. Al Woodall led the team in passing but they lost seven of their first eight and ended up just 4-10.
Emerson Boozer was the Jets' best offensive weapon, while George Nock led them with six touchdowns. On defense, they were led by defensive tackle John Elliott, who - along with tackle Winston Hill - went to the pro bowl. WK Hicks intercepted eight passes.
