The Current 50
Former CFL linebacker Freddie Bishop was holding the number 50 jersey until he was released yesterday. It remains vacant, ripe for reallocation.
The Greatest
Bob Crable was a reliable middle linebacker during his six years with the Jets, which saw the team make the postseason three times.

50 years ago
1968 was, of course, the Jets' Super Bowl season, although the postseason actually took place in 1969. They went 11-3 in the regular season. We detailed that earlier in our countdown, here.
50-yard touchdown
