Countdown to Camp: 48
As we look ahead to training camp in late July, we're going to take a daily retrospective look back at some random people, moments and games from Jets history...
The Current 48
Jordan Jenkins has been a solid player since the Jets drafted him a few years ago, but his production has been modest and he's had only had a few flashy impact plays. However, an NFL player of the week award last November gives a glimpse into his potential.
The Greatest
Safety Ken Schroy was a Jet for eight years and racked up 16 regular season interceptions, half of which came in 1980. He was also the only Jet to show up for the 1982 AFC title game, registering two interceptions.
Schroy was one of the players involved in perhaps the most iconic hit in team history:

In 1970, the Jets won just four games as Joe Namath was limited to five starts. We detailed that earlier in our countdown, here.
48-yard game-winner
Here's Nick Folk's game winner from the 2013 season opener. The Jets had just blown a lead, but Geno Smith - in his first NFL game - passed to Kellen Winslow, then scrambled to midfield with Lavonte David's late hit putting the Jets into range:
48 on the scoreboard
The 2012 Jets were considered a joke that was going to be one of the worst offenses in the league. The experts were basically right, but they looked pretty stupid on opening day when the Jets exploded for a 48-28 win over the Bills. Stephen Hill had a monster first game with five catches for 89 yards and two scores.
48 on the statsheet
In 1978, Wesley Walker had a career high in receiving yards with 1,169 but did so on just 48 receptions. His yards per catch average of 24.4 has never been bettered by anyone with more than 45 catches in any NFL season.
