Countdown to Camp: 37
As we look ahead to training camp in late July, we're taking a daily retrospective look back at some random people, moments and games from Jets history...
The Current 37
The number 37 has been allocated to safety JJ Wilcox who was a recent signing. Wilcox has the inside track on Rontez Miles' third safety role due to his experience. However, he will face competition from Terrence Brooks and Doug Middleton.
The Greatest
Of all the players to wear this number, nobody ever had a game like Jaiquawn Jarrett had in an upset win over the Steelers in 2014. Jarrett had 10 tackles, a sack, two passes defensed, two interceptions and a fumble recovery to win the AFC defensive player of the week award. He didn't do much else in his three seasons though, although he started seven games.

In 1981, the Jets ended a decade-long playoff drought as the Sack Exchange set a team record with 66 sacks. We detailed that earlier in our countdown, here.

Here's Santonio Holmes' game-winner against the Browns late in overtime in 2010:
37 on the scoreboard
The Jets served notice of their potential in that 1981 season with a 37-0 shut-out of the Baltimore Colts.
They also won two games in their history 37-31 in overtime. One came on Chad Morton's second kick-off return of the game against the Bills in 2002. The other was at the end of the 1987 player's strike where many full-time players had gone back to their teams to play with the replacement players. Pat Ryan won that one with a touchdown pass to Eddie Hunter.
