Countdown to Camp: 17
As we look ahead to training camp in late July, we're taking a daily retrospective look back at some random people, moments and games from Jets history...
The Current 17
Charone Peake is still on the roster despite missing most of last year with an ankle injury. He caught 19 passes as a rookie, but his only touchdown was a bizarre play where he picked up a fumble and ran it in as everyone else just stood around. He's on the bubble heading to camp.
The Greatest
Braylon Edwards had some big moments in his three stints as a Jet. His best season - 2010 - saw him catch 53 passes for over 900 yards and seven touchdowns in the regular season. He then caught a further nine passes for 164 yards in the playoffs, including a memorable play where he dragged a couple of Patriots into the end zone.

The 2001 season saw the Jets, under new head coach Herm Edwards, battle their way into the playoffs by beating the Raiders 24-22 on the final day of the season on John Hall's late 53-yard field goal. Unfortunately, they faced the Raiders again the following week and lost 38-24.
The Jets had remained in contention due to three one-point wins; scrappy 13-12 and 15-14 wins over the Panthers and Bengals and an exciting 29-28 win over the Colts, which saw Vinny Testaverde throw a late touchdown pass to Anthony Becht.
Center Kevin Mawae and pass rusher John Abraham (13 sacks) were all-pros and Curtis Martin rushed for over 1,500 yards and 10 touchdowns while also catching 53 passes to go to the pro bowl. Laveranues Coles led the Jets in receiving for the first time.

The Jets have had plenty of big wins with 17 on the board, including three postseason wins - 17-16 over the Colts in 2010 and 17-14 against the 2009 Chargers and the 1982 Raiders.
17 on the stat sheet
The Jets trailed 30-6 after three against the 49ers in 1980 but Richard Todd just kept dumping it off over and over again to get them back in the game. As he set an NFL record with 42 completions on 60 attempts - one which has since been broken by Drew Bledsoe and tied as a franchise record by Testaverde - running back Clark Gaines also set a franchise record which stands to this day. In total, he racked up 17 receptions, totalling 160 yards in the process. The Jets never got within 10 points though.
