Camp Recap: Day Six - 8/1/18
The Jets were on the field today for their fourth practice. Here were some of the things that happened based on reports from those on site:
- Quincy Enunwa, Jordan Leggett and Shaneil Jenkins were not in pads. Charone Peake was in a red no-contact jersey;
- Safety Marcus Maye returned to team drills but also had a red no-contact jersey on and Doug Middleton still shared the workload with the first unit;
- Teddy Bridgewater, who did not receive any first team reps on Sam Darnold's first day, did see some first team action today;
- Right tackle Brandon Shell was back at practice having missed yesterday and Terrelle Pryor took part in team drills without a no-contact jersey for the first time and made some plays;
- Youngster Ben Braden saw first-team reps at right guard in place of Brian Winters;
- Nose tackle Deon Simon was on the sideline with a wrap on his leg, while Buster Skrine had a brace on his hand but still practiced;
- Terrence Brooks intercepted Josh McCown in 7-on-7 drills, off an Avery Williamson deflection;
- Running back Isaiah Crowell made some good contributions in the passing game and finished off a good McCown-led drive with a short touchdown run;
- McCown had some issues with the center exchange, fumbling two Spencer Long snaps;
- Bridgewater's first drive came up empty after a Thomas Rawls drop. He had a nice connection to Chris Herndon though and added a good pass to Chad Hansen on the final drive of the day;
- Darnold was intercepted by Morris Claiborne almost immediately, as a pass slipped out of his hand. However, he bounced back with completions to Hansen and Herndon. The drive stalled in the red zone;
- Derrick Jones was ruled out of bounds on an interception for the second time in camp, this time on a Darnold pass; and
- After practice, Bowles confirmed that Leggett and Enunwa have "training camp injuries" but didn't confirm the severity. (For the record, he said the same thing about a few players last week and they all returned to practice the next day). Enunwa's injury is nothing to do with his neck.
